Burge: my future is with Vale
Midfielder Ryan Burge says he is fit and ready to challenge for a first-team place after recovering from an injury “nightmare” and the 23 year-old says that he wants to extend his stay with the Valiants.
I’ve had a good pre-season and I’m feeling good.
Burge joined the club on a two-year contract in the summer of 2011 after being signed for an undisclosed amount from Hyde. But after just two appearances, the midfielder missed the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury.
Burge was subsequently placed on the transfer list at the end of the season and many observers thought that the player’s Vale career was over. But instead, the player has worked his way back to fitness and after an impressive pre-season he is now an important member of Micky Adams’ squad.
The midfielder told the Sentinel: “I’ve had to be patient, like a few of the lads, but the boys with the shirts have been doing well. I’d really like to be playing in the team, but I’m not worrying about it. It’s a long season and we’ve only played eight games so far.”
Burge added: “It was very frustrating to get injured straight away. To be out for so long was a nightmare, so I’m just pleased to be back fit and playing now.
“I’ve had a good pre-season and I’m feeling good. I’m settled around here now, my girlfriend is up here and I’m enjoying being at the club. I definitely see my future here.”
