Adams: defeat ‘opens the door’ for squad players
Micky Adams has admitted that he may make changes to Vale’s starting line-up following the home defeat to Gillingham.
I’ll have to look closely at the work we do this week and pick a side accordingly
The Valiants have lined up with the same starting eleven for nine games in a row but the Vale boss says he will use this week’s training sessions to assess his squad. This could mean that the likes of Gareth Owen, Rob Taylor and Ryan Burge may all be pushing for a first-team start.
Adams told the Sentinel: “When you lose games, it always opens the door for other people.
“I’ll have to look closely at the work we do this week and pick a side accordingly.
“I’ll go home disappointed by some of my own thinking for the Gillingham game, and I’m big enough to say that.
“But we’ve put points on the board early on and that gives you a bit of breathing space if you have a poor performance like we had on Saturday.
“It’s up to us to show what we’re made of now and go to Bradford in a positive frame of mind.”
