Vale win thanks to late Purcell penalty
Trialist Tadhg Purcell netted a late penalty winner as a Vale team featuring forward Darren Byfield defeated non-league neighbours Nantwich Town.
Byfield, who along with Kris Taylor, is training with the club, featured in a strong Vale line-up.
In a keenly contested match, Vale had to wait until the closing stages to break the deadlock. Louis Dodds was brought down in the area and Purcell netted his fifth friendly goal for Vale from the spot.
