Sean Rigg joins Oxford United
The official Oxford United website has confirmed that Port Vale winger Sean Rigg has signed for the club.
The website says that Rigg has agreed a two-year contract with the League Two side. The news will be another blow to Vale boss Micky Adams, who has already lost midfielder Anthony Griffith to Leyton Orient.
Rigg was last season’s second-highest scorer with ten goals – his last coming somewhat ironically against Oxford United in the final game of the season.
The wide player joined the Valiants in 2009, initially on loan, and the move was made permanent in 2010.
Sean Rigg’s career stats for the Vale were as follows:
Starts: 65
Sub apps: 39
Goals: 18
Oxford United manager Chris Wilder told the official website: “Sean is a player we have been watching for a while now, as far back as when we were in the Conference. I saw him play a number of times last season and he was always a threat to the opposition.
“He can play all along the front line and scored ten times last season from wide left. We create a lot of chances here and are confident that he can score goals for us. We are looking for that extra bit of quality in the final third and we are delighted to have Sean here.”
