Grew: I expect contract decisions next week
Port Vale coach Mark Grew has told the Sentinel newspaper that he expects news on the players’ contract decisions next week.
Grew told the newspaper: “After talking to the manager last Tuesday, most of them will have been thinking over the offers.”
Rob Taylor, Anthony Griffith, John McCombe, Louis Dodds, Marc Richards, Tom Pope, Stuart Tomlinson, Lewis Haldane, Sean Rigg, Ben Williamson, Kingsley James, Clayton McDonald , Chris Shuker, Sam Johnson, Ryan Lloyd and Joe Davis have all been offered new deals with the club.
Meanwhile, as reported by OVF earlier this month, winger Lewis Haldane has been handed a six-month deal to prove his fitness after recovering from his double leg fracture. Grew told the newspaper: “Lewis has had an horrendous couple of years, but he’s been as good as gold.
“Hopefully his luck has now changed and he can get back to what he was.
“If he can get his fitness levels back, it will be like signing a new player.
“The gaffer has given him six months to prove his fitness. If he can do that, then the deal will probably be prolonged – that way, it is fair to him and fair to the club.”
