Supporters Club "delighted" with fans forum
The Port Vale Supporters Club have declared themselves “delighted” after what they describe as a “positive” fans forum with potential new owner Keith Ryder.
A press release reads:
Port Vale Supporters’ Club would like to thank the 600-plus fans who turned out to welcome preferred bidder Keith Ryder to Vale Park last night (Wed).
The attendance spoke volumes for people’s passion for the club and gave the North West based businessman a glimpse of Vale’s potential going forward.
Supporters’ Club Chairman Pete Williams said: “I am delighted with the way the fans’ forum went. It was extremely positive. The turnout was excellent – so much so that Mr Ryder ended up doing two question and answer sessions with fans.
“After being treated like second class citizens for so long it was wonderful to see Vale fans in a position where they could air their concerns and questions with the man who is likely to soon be the new chairman.
“It has been a bruising and demoralising few years for Port Vale’s fanbase but Wednesday night was the evening when optimism returned to Burslem.
“We have proven in recent months that, when united, Vale’s fans are much stronger and I think Mr Ryder appreciates that having an ongoing dialogue with the supporters is absolutely key to the future of the business.
“It is, of course, still early days and we aren’t out of the woods just yet but we are cautiously optimistic and Mr Ryder can be assured of our full support moving forward.”
The Supporters’ Club, which now boasts a membership of more than 1,500 fans, will be selling T-shirts, mugs and postcards (weather permitting) and collecting in buckets towards the hardship fund before and after Saturday’s home game against Bristol Rovers.
We would also like to take this opportunity to wish Micky and the lads all the best for Saturday’s game.
Membership of the Supporters’ Club is completely free and you can join online through this link:
