Shrewsbury A-A Port Vale
Full debuts for Kingsley James (pictured) and Phil Roe were overshadowed (literally) by a floodlight failure as Vale’s game at Shrewsbury was abandoned due to a fire in the main stand.
Micky Adams was forced into four changes wih Roe and James making full debuts, Clayton McDonald returning from suspension and Tom Pope being brought into the starting line-up. They replaced the suspended Joe Davis and injured trio Doug Loft, Chris Shuker and Sean Rigg.
Vale had the first chance of the game but Marc Richards could not convert it.
The first-half was a well contested affair with Pope having a header cleared off the line.
And in the second-half a Dodds shot forced a save out of the keeper after more good work from Pope.
But Shrewsbury hit back through the dangerous James Collins who put the home side into the lead on 49 minutes. But on the hour mark, the East Stand electrics failed and the game was subsequently abandoned. Fire engines then arrived at the ground as smoke was seen coming from the stand and we at OVF hope that no-one was injured due to the incident.
