Owen awaits injury news
Gareth Owen will visit a specialist on Monday to see if he requires surgery as he recovers from a broken hand.
The central defender has missed Port Vale’s last two games after sustaining the injury during a training session.
“Ideally, I hope to be back in training before the end of the week, but I’ll have to see if the specialist gives me the go-ahead,” Owen told the Sentinel.
“The specialist is concerned that there’s a bit of movement around the break which means the fractured bone isn’t fully knitting back together.
“But he says I’ll be able to train if I keep wearing a cast.
“If the bone isn’t fully knitting together I might need surgery to insert a pin into the bone.
“But if that’s the case I may be able to delay having the operation until the end of the season, which I’d prefer because I don’t want to be ruled out for any longer.”
