Rumour: Birchall wanted by Ipswich Town?
A Trinidad newspaper is claiming that Championship side Ipswich Town have expressed an interest in Vale’s World Cup star Chris Birchall.
According to the Trinidad & Tobago Express, new Ipswich Town boss Jim Magilton could make a £150,000 bid for the Port Vale winger.
The Stafford-born star has been at Vale Park since his early teens and has clocked up 91 games for the Valiants first-team.
Birchall claims to be focused on the start of the new season with Port Vale and told Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) media officer Shaun Fuentes: “To be honest, I know there has been interest in me, but the focus was to go to the World Cup and do well. There will be some discussions obviously and my commitment remains with Port Vale at the moment but we’ll see how things go.”||
