Micky Bell leaves for Cheltenham Town
Vale defender Mickey Bell has moved on to League Two side Cheltenham Town on a free transfer.
The transfer has been confirmed on the Cheltenham Town official website.
Manager John Ward commented that “I spoke to Mickey in the summer shortly before he joined Port Vale. That move didn’t work out for him so I jumped in when the player became available.
“I’m delighted to have him on board because he’s a player I know well from my time at Bristol City.”
According to the Cheltenham site, the player still lives in Bristol and that was a factor in his move back to the West Country.
Bell made just eighteen starts for the Valiants with the highlight probably being a fine goal against his former club Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
Typically of many Vale players this season, Bell’s spell at the club was dogged by injury that has recently seen him lose his starting position to Craig James.<
