Martin Foyle Appointed Port Vale Manager
A new era has begun at Vale Park as former player and youth coach Martin Foyle was announced as the new manager with Ian Brightwell as his assistant.
Foyle takes over from Brian Horton who left the club by ‘mutual consent’ on Thursday.
Foyle has spent twelve years at Vale Park and told the club’s official site that it was his ‘dream job’ to manage the Valiants.
Foyle spent nine years as a player at Vale Park and is in second-place in the club’s all-time scoring charts with 107 goals.
Foyle initially retired from playing in 1996, but was brought back into the squad to great success. His final playing season ended with the veteran 36 year-old being top scorer and player of the year.
When Foyle eventually retired, he took over the reigns as Vale’s Youth Coach and was in charge during the Vale youngsters epic FA Cup giantkilling campaign last season.
