Matt Carragher back in the Football League
Former Vale captain Matt Carragher is back in league football after agreeing a three month deal with Macclesfield Town.
The right-back has been playing for Stafford Rangers since being released by Vale in the summer, and will be eligible to feature against Bury at the weekend.
Carragher will link up with another former Vale captain – Tommy Widdrington at the club.
Caretaker boss John Askey said: “He’s a good professional and has a lot of games under his belt. He’s played more than 300 and is still only 27, so he still has a lot to offer us.
“Most of the games he has played have been at a higher level than the Third Division and so he is just the kind of player that we want to bring to Macclesfield Town. I’m delighted to have him on board as he is a player who I have seen a lot of over the years.”
